Help GCA Grow

You can help me to improve GCA in a couple of different ways!

In addition to what I mention below, I want to stress that I always love to hear from folks about what they already like, and what they’d like to see added or improved!

Now, on to how you can help more directly.

Send Data

The first way is to contribute data that we’re missing.

Writing a data file for a book that hasn’t been covered yet can be a tough task. I think the data file format is pretty straight-forward (for people who are used to working with structured documents, anyway), but it can certainly be daunting never-the-less. And many of the commands available may be a bit confusing. However, If you’re interested, the first two documents on the Documents page are your help files, and the many different data files already written are your practical examples.

You can also contribute on a smaller scale than a whole book! If you notice something is missing, and you know how to add it yourself in GCA, then you could send me the missing bits that you’ve added. The best way to do this is to save each of the bits you create into your own custom book file from the Save button in the Edit Traits dialog (please don’t mix data from different books if you’re going to send it in!). Then send that file with a note letting me know what it is. For example, you might send a file with your new Ultra-Tech data that is called “Ultra-Tech Missing Stuff.gdf” along with an attached message that it is a bunch of equipment items that were missing from the official file. That will allow me to quickly add it to the main book and get it out to people.

And, as a help to others, please remember to include page numbers from the book for your added items.

The best ways to reach me are on the GCA channel of the GURPS Discord or on the GCA Forum at the SJGames Forums.

Send Money

The second way to contribute is to throw money at me.

I’m self-employed, so I spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to book new contracts. If I have money already pledged to a particular project, in this case GCA, then I don’t have to try to find other work to fill my schedule. Pre-booking my time is far more efficient, so it means I actually have more hours to spend on that work!

I have a Patreon here. This allows you to provide support on an ongoing monthly basis. I’m still figuring out what to do with it, but so far it looks like I’ll at least be previewing new sheets and plugins for patrons there.

I have a Buy Me A Coffee here. This allows you to make a one-time contribution. (I would prefer either Ko-fi or PayPal below, but if this works best for you, thanks!)
